The objectives of the FMV Teaching Hospital are:
- To promote the training of the graduate students in Veterinary Medicine in the clinical area of knowledge;
- To provide a quality service to the community, using the cases for teaching purposes.
The Teaching Hospital works 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Students are involved in all activities assisting the consultations and the interned animals.
Companion animals: 1st opinion consultations in the areas of Internal Medicine, Radiology and Surgery and 2nd opinion consultations in the areas of Dermatology, Ophtalmology, Neurology, Cardiology, Orthopedics and Animal Behavior. In the area of Imagiology, X-Ray and ultrasonographic exams are available as well computerized axial tomography exams.
Farm animals: direct consultations by ambulatory service to ruminants; direct consultations by ambulatory service to equines; especial consultations in the areas of reproduction, surgery, infectious and parasitic diseases. FMV has also premises and equipment to receive animals for surgery and/or internment, especially equines.
The services of the Teaching Hospital are supported by complementary diagnostic services provided by different laboratories in the areas of: Bacteriology, Parasitology, Endocrinology, Anatomo-Pathology, Hematology and Cytology.
